TONY HAND believes new signing Martin Cingel will be a massive hit next season.
The 35-year-old former Slovakian international is heading south after nine seasons in the Scottish capital.
“Martin’s been in Edinburgh a long time and he’s been their captain and top scorer,” said Hand.
“We need experience in the team because we have lost three guys in their 30s and I need someone who knows the game as well as being a good player.
“Martin ticks all the boxes for what I am looking for.”
Cingel is joined by netminder Stephen Fone who is returning for his third season at Altrincham.
Hand will renew an old partnership with Cingel – the pair played together in Edinburgh when Hand was coach there in seasons 2003-4 and 2005-6.
“I’ve coached him before so I know what he brings. He’s been in the Elite League for a long time but he wanted a new challenge.
“He shows up every night, he scores goals and he will be a very good player in our league.”
