BELLE Vue team manager Jim Lynch has shuffled the line-up for Monday’s Elite League match against Birmingham at Kirkmanshulme Lane as he bids for a grandstand finish to the campaign.
The Autogate Aces have six league matches left, two at home and four away, as well as the Knockout Cup.
Patrick Hougaard moves up to No 2 to partner captain Chris Harris on Monday and Lynch will be having a chat with the young Dane about his struggle for form since coming back from a month out with a nasty hand injury.
Lynch said: “I want to look at different options so I’ve decided to put Harris and Hougaard together. I’ll be talking to Patrick to see if we can get to the bottom of his current problem because we all know he is a better rider than the one we have seen recently.
“I have changed the team around to look at different options in the hope we can get some riders gelling better in different pairings.
“The home draw with Coventry on Monday was a blow in terms of making the play-offs but I want to reassure fans that we are going for the best finishing position we can achieve.
“Some clubs have a lot of matches in hand on us but if we can win our home matches and pick up some points away, which we are capable of doing, then who knows what can happen.
“I want this team to go out and show everyone that the great result we had against Peterborough is a correct Belle Vue performance.
“We will go into our remaining meetings with a hugely positive attitude and it won’t be for the lack of trying that we don’t achieve a good finish to the season.”
Captain Harris had a disappointing meeting in the draw with Coventry for which he has apologised to fans.
Lynch, who has just accepted an offer to remain as team manager in 2012, added: “We are absolutely 100 per cent behind Chris and it will be one of our main ambitions to have him back at the club next year.”
Monday’s line-up: Chris Harris, Patrick Hougaard, Craig Cook, Charlie Gjedde, Rory Schlein, Ricky Kling, Lukasz Jankowski.
The new club logo, unveiled at this week’s fans’ meeting, will become official later this year as, obviously, the current logo on the club’s race suits will remain in force until the end of the season.
