Salford sign Moon and James

Joel Moon

Salford have finally tied up a deal for play-anywhere Aussie Joel Moon and have also signed prop forward Jordan James from Crusaders.

Moon, 23, (pictured) has been linked with the Reds for the last month but has now agreed a two-year deal.

James played for Swinton Lions early in his career and played for Wigan Warriors and Widnes before linking up with Crusaders.

Moon has joined from New Zealand Warriors and can play can play either half-back position, centre, second row or loose forward but is seen as a replacement for Stefan Ratchford who is leaving for Warrington next season.

Ratchford will bid an emotional farewell to the Willows and Salford City Reds on Sunday.

The 23-year-old stand-off has spent his entire professional career at the famous old ground but next season will be playing in the blue and yellow of Warrington Wolves.

He will step out against Catalans in the stand-off position he’s hoping to make his own at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and he said: “It’s going to be an emotional day.

“We had a team photo the other day and someone said it’s the last ever team photo at the Willows and that made it sink in a bit about what’s happening here.

“There’s just a few days left and then the old lady has gone.”
