Tony Hand has warned Phoenix that they have to perform for the full 60 minutes to compete in the English Premier league.

Phoenix lost 5-3 at home to Slough on Sunday after conceding four goals in a shocking second period.

They rallied from five goals down to score three times in the third but it was too little too late.

“In the second period we got beat 4-0,” said player-coach Hand who is still injured and controlled affairs from the bench.

“We went to sleep a little bit and you can’t do that against a team like Slough.

“We gave them too many chances and paid the price.

“Give the guys credit because they rallied in the third and worked hard and we had three or four chances after we got it back to three but the damage had been done.

“They got their goals at the right time. It gave them a boost and knocked us back.

“You have to play for the full 60 minutes but we’ll get on with it and get ready for next week.”

Adam Calder (2), Adam Greener, Doug Sheppard and Dan Davies put Slough in control before Phoenix hit back with goals from Tom Duggan, Jaroslav Spelda and Slava Koulikov.
