A Martin Cingel brace fired Manchester Phoenix to a 6-2 away win against the Bracknell Bees in Berkshire on Saturday.
The visitors, still without injured player coach Tony Hand and Steven Wallace, opened the scoring in the first period through forward Slava Koulikov.
Koulikov then turned provider early in the second period, feeding Cingel for his first tally of the evening and Phoenix’s second. In form Tom Duggan added a third, before a fit again Jaroslav Spelda netted on the powerplay.
Lukáš SmÃtal pulled a goal back for the home side, but with Bracknell unable to stay out of the penalty box, Slovakian Juraj Faith scored Phoenix’s fifth goal of the night before the end of the second session.
A change between the pipes for Bee’s at the start of the third period quelled the Phoenix attack, and the home side pulled a goal back through Alex Barker on the powerplay. Cingel though had the last say, scoring his second of the night to give Tony Hand’s men an important away victory.
Phoenix will hope for a four point weekend as they play host to the Basingstoke Bison at Altrincham on Sunday (5.30pm).
