Phoenix slumped to one of their worst-ever defeats in Slough on Saturday.
Without player-coach Tony Hand on the ice or on the bench Phoenix were no match for the Jets who ran riot in a six-goal second period to claim a 9-0 victory.
Hand was hoping to be back on the bench on Sunday against Milton Keynes in Altrincham (5.30pm) and it appeared as though his players might have been conserving their energy for that game.
He spent Saturday recovering from an operation under general anesthetic to insert two pins into his fractured ankle.
Phoenix have increased their roster for a few weeks with the addition of Jamie Spurr, the former Peterborough forward.
Import forward Martin Cingel and captain Luke Boothroyd took charge of affairs on the bench on Saturday but it was clear from an early stage that Slough meant business and Adam Calder gave them a fourth minute lead.
Doug Sheppard (2), Calder, Dan Davies and Ryan Watt (2) did the damage in a disastrous second period.
Predictably things calmed down in the third and Phoenix managed to limit their opponents to two more goals from Galazzi and Sheppard, who completed his hat-trick.
