PHOENIX took their winning streak to six after knocking eight goals past Telford last night.
Tony Hand’s men have climbed into joint third place in the English Premier League but were made to work at it by the Tigers.
“Telford made us battle hard and dig deep,” said Hand.
“We took our chances well but our attention to detail wasn’t good and there were times when we lost our concentration.
“I told the guys they had to keep working at it. You can’t afford to switch off because the next thing you know they have tied the game.
“And it happened because we were 4-2 up and they pulled it back.
“We switched off, went to sleep, and then they got it back to 4-4.”
Phoenix trailed 1-0 at the end of the first period.
But the goals rained in at both ends in the second with Ciaran Long, Martin Cingel, Jaroslav Spelda (2) and Stephen Wallace getting on the scoresheet to give Phoenix a 5-4 lead at the break.
Phoenix pulled away in the third with another goal from Cingel and two from Juraj Faith, the second an empty netter.
Hand added: “It was good to get four points on the road because it’s tough to get any points on the road.
“It was a good win in Slough.
“We were a little bit slow out of the traps but after that we played really well and deserved to win.
“We were 3-1 up and then they scored a late powerplay goal to close the gap. But we did not give them much at all and I was pretty happy with the way they played.”
